BioWare has released the fifth patch for Dragon Age 4 Shadowbane Guardians. However, a quote from the patch log surprised gamers This may be the last major update for the game. BioWare has stated that the game is now in a stable state, and that it will focus on fixing major bugs in the future, rather than working on active content. The announcement is tantamount to announcing that BioWare has ceased long-term support for the game after less than three months of release.

In the patch log, BioWare wrote Thank you for your support of Dragon Age 4 Guardians of the Shadow Barrier. We are pleased with the stability of the game at launch and hope that players have enjoyed our comprehensive updates. As the game has reached a stable state, we will turn to focusing on monitoring and fixing major bugs. This paragraph clearly implies that players should not expect any new content or improvements in the future. Notably, BioWare also used the Dragon Age elvish word dareth shiral, meaning farewell, in the log, seemingly re-emphasizing its determination to end support.

Considering that the game only sold half of what EA expected, this decision is not surprising. Dragon Age 4 Guardians of the Shadow Barrier continued BioWare’s recent track record of failure, following in the footsteps of Shadowland, Mass Effect, Andromeda, and Anthem. At this stage, BioWare is focusing on the development of Mass Effect 5, but it seems to have a long way to go before it is released.
