After March’s bombardment of great games, I wonder if those of you in front of your screens are still a little bit tired of it all. In this post, we’re going to introduce you to ten April releases that are worth looking out for, not only in terms of category, but also in terms of what they focus on, so let’s see if there’s one you like.
Light and Shadow: Expedition 33
Clair Obscur Expedition 33
On Sale April 24th
Turn-based combat with high-speed QTEs – it’s hard to imagine what Light and Shadow Expedition 33 has in store for gamers, but this turn-based role-playing game from French studio Sandfall Interactive utilizes a traditional turn-based system where speed determines the order of action, and adds a QTE system to counter enemy moves, making the combat experience unlike any other. This is a turn-based role-playing game developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive.
Players can dodge enemy attacks through QTE, or successfully perform blocking counter moves with a shorter input window, which can cause a lot of damage to enemies while dodging their attacks. In this way, the player can choose different evasive maneuvers to deal with different threats when facing different enemies.
In addition to the innovative combat system, Light and Shadow Expedition 33 retains the classic elements of a JRPG, allowing players to adjust their character’s equipment, attributes and skills to suit their own style of gameplay, as well as designing an exclusive build direction for their expedition members. With only one year left to live, how will players change their fate and overcome their despair? It’s all here in Light & Shadow Expedition 33.
Sand
Release Date April 4
In this open-world PVPVE game set in the post-apocalyptic era, players control giant walking robots as they explore, extract and loot limited resources. In other words, the player’s role is like that of a pirate, except that the setting has changed from a vast ocean to a sandy desert.
Tramplers will be the player’s most faithful companions, not only as a means of transportation, but also as a means of storing resources, daily life, and as a means of attacking enemies. Players are free to build their own mobile fortress, choosing from engines, room layouts and weapons to create a unique war machine. Of course, players can also choose to fight with friends to loot more resources through the fortress and weapons.
Storm Rising
Tempest Rising
Release Date April 25th
With the RTS genre on the decline, it’s not easy to see a good selling title. Tempest Rising takes all the best aspects of the 90’s and 00’s RTS titles and combines them with the latest development techniques and presentation styles to create an RTS full of combat strategy and gaming.
The game offers players a choice of three camps, two of which can be played at the beginning of the game, each with a different fighting style and economic model. Players will have to choose between leading the maneuverable and technologically advanced Peacekeepers or the brave and fearless Stormtroopers in either the single-player campaign or the multiplayer mode. For those who enjoy the RTS genre, the Deluxe Edition of the game is available for pre-order with a 7-day head start.
The Last Man Standing 2 Reset
The Last of Us Part II Remastered
Release Date April 3
PC gamers will now be able to experience the mixed emotions that come with being bludgeoned with a golf club. The plot-driven third-person shooter, released in 2020, took the gaming world by storm upon its release, and its effects are still being felt today.
While the reviews were polarizing, the quality of the game is definitely something to be reckoned with as it won over 300 awards and took home the TGA 2020 Game of the Year. The reset also improves on the original game’s graphics and adds a new Roguelike survival mode, Journey to the Dead, which lets players push their limits in classic scenes from The Last Survivor 2.
Meanwhile, Vanishing Levels allows players to explore three early development versions of the game that were not released in the original version, and hear the story of the game’s development process while experiencing the game, while Guitar Strumming and Rapid Mode allow players to choose between relaxation and challenge. The game also supports the features of the PlayStation DualSense controller, so I wonder what kind of mood you’ll be in when you play that classic level?
Paradise
Paradise is a free-to-play life simulation game that has done a wonderful job of drawing up the pie. The slogan Endless Worlds, Endless Games is enough to pique players’ curiosity, but it remains to be seen whether its advertised AI-driven NPCs and real-world rules can bring players unlimited possibilities.
Participate in shootouts with friends, race around the track, and earn money to buy everything you want, from real estate to luxury clothing. With only a few days left until the game’s release, it’s fun to think about the excitement of opening a blind box.
Secret Shadow of Mandela
Mandragora Whispers of the Witch Tree

In this 2 5D side-scrolling action role-playing game, players will battle evil creatures and challenge nightmarish ringleaders in the monster-filled world of Faldum, and with the addition of allies, perhaps the dream of rebelling against the world won’t be so hard to achieve.
Horizontal scrolling with skill-driven combat allows players to execute those who come their way in exaggerated fashion. Of course the enemies are no slouches, but we’re better. From the Vanguard to the Heretic, a wide selection of professions, depth-filled character builds, and powerful weapons, armor, and trinkets allow players to better deal with the dangers to come. Players who enjoy side-scrolling games are in for a treat!
South of Midnight

In order to save his mother and protect his hometown, the protagonist becomes a weaver with the ability to repair broken bonds and soothe souls. This ancient power allows us to fight evil spirits, and in the process of exploring the colorful regions of the South, mending the cracks in the grand tapestry may be the key to unraveling the family’s past entanglements. Players interested in the mysterious culture of the American South may want to pay more attention to this work.
Allied Death Squad Origins
Commandos Origins
Release Date April 10th
It’s time for both fans of the famous Allied Death Squad series and real-time tactics games to revel in the fact that there’s finally a new installment in the series after all these years. The series has impressed gamers since its inception with its extreme difficulty, level design, and character coordination, and we’ll have to wait and see if Allied Force Origins returns to the top of the real-time tactics genre.
Allied Death Squad Origins will lead players to witness the beginning of the elite troops of World War II. Classic characters such as the Green Beret, the Engineer, the Sniper, the Driver, the Ghost, and the Spy return to work together on challenging missions. Remember that only by utilizing the Elite Force’s unique combination of skills, through a combination of sneaking and sabotage, will you be able to turn the impossible into the possible. If you’re a real-time tactical gamer, I’m afraid that Allied Force Origins will be a must-play for April.
Hollywood Animals
Hollywood Animal
It’s time to dream about getting rich again! In the world of Hollywood Animal, players can enjoy the fun of movie making. Whether it’s a commercial movie with great money-making power, a niche movie trying to sweep the awards, or a B-movie full of plasma and violence, players will have a choice.
As the boss of a movie studio, players not only need to consider the theme and casting of the upcoming movie, but also need to set up the company’s construction, resource management, upgrade projects, and other initiatives, and make flexible adaptations according to the different parts of the movie. Whether you choose to play by the rules, or work for the top, or give a generous raise to the writer/director, or give a gentle reminder, it’s all a matter of preference! If you’re interested in filmmaking or strategy simulation games, you might want to give this one a look.
Crashlands 2
Release Date April 11th
Crashlands, released in 2016, allowed everyone to experience just how much fun the core gameplay, which blended elements of both Terraria and Famine, could be, and with Crashlands 2, set to be released shortly, there’s no telling if it will allow players to recapture the same feeling that the first generation had brought to the table.
Our once-great intergalactic truck driver, Flux Dabbs, has once again fallen into the middle of an uncharted planet by mistake. In order to return to his second home, the player needs to get in touch with them and explore the sea of stars of Nop with their technology.
Build your own home, enjoy a world filled with cosmic radiation and the scent of meteorites, or get friendly with the countless lovely beings that Vonop has spawned, and the amiable NPCs can’t wait to give their part. For those who want to experience open-world survival building, Crashlands 2 may be a good choice.

April does seem a bit thin compared to March’s lineup, but with a wide range of classic IP sequels, there’s probably a lot of interest to be found in this month’s lineup. Do you have a favorite game, or any other games you’d like to recommend? Let’s discuss them in the comments section.
